TCU vs. North Carolina

TCU will play a football game outside of the United States for the first time in program history, when the Horned Frogs open their 2026 season against UNC in the fifth-annual Aer Lingus College Football Classic, August 29, 2026, at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The Horned Frogs and Tar Heels will meet in Chapel Hill on September 1, 2025 to open the 2025 regular season. Both teams will then kick off the 2026 campaign in Week Zero with the seventh college football game ever played at Dublin’s 47,000-seat Aviva Stadium.

The schools have only met three times prior to the 2025 season, with North Carolina winning all previous matchups. The 2026 game marks TCU’s first Week Zero game ever.

Aviva Stadium, which opened in 2010, was built on the site where historic Lansdowne Stadium once stood. Previous college football games played in Aviva Stadium in Dublin include a pair of Notre Dame-Navy games (2012 and 2023), a Georgia Tech-Boston College game in 2016, a 2022 Nebraska-Northwestern game, and the 2023 Florida State-Georgia Tech game. All-told, the UNC-TCU football game will be the 11th played on Irish soil.
